About Us
Nestled in a cozy corner lot in the village of Huntington, MA – Comfort Kitchen and Bar occupies a historic building on 4 Main Street with a colorful and rich history. The building has hosted a number of other businesses, including a tavern that had been visited by President Calvin Coolidge and prominent judges from Northampton.
Owner Michael Desmarais started Comfort Kitchen and Bar in 2017. Drawing upon decades of experience as a restaurant employee and owner, his mission is to create a unique experience for you to:
-
Enjoy comfort foods from a carefully curated menu. Meals are flavorful, from-scratch cooking with fresh ingredients and a sense of nostalgia.
-
Dine in a comfortable, familiar atmosphere that feels like home. Warm wood beams, historic photos adorning the walls, plush carpeting and tables pre-set with silverware create a sophisticated yet family-friendly environment.
-
Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday living. Whether you’re visiting from across the state or down the street, the quiet and serene village of Huntington provides the perfect backdrop to enhance your dining experience.
The menu is plentiful without being overwhelming, with some items subject to seasonal changes. However, fan favorites like baked macaroni & cheese, chicken pot pie, and shrimp & grits (which owner Michael Desmarais called a ‘must-try’ item) will have a permanent home on the menu.
The future of Comfort Kitchen and Bar includes a catering menu with ‘take and bake’ items, cheese and fruit platters, and opening a designated area inside the restaurant to host small events such as wedding showers and parties. Of course, if you ever find yourself craving Coconut Crusted Chicken Tenders or a Hot Meatloaf Sandwich, items can be pre-ordered and picked up during regular business hours.
